FSB claims disruption of SBU FPV drone cache near Moscow

Bottom line

Russian FSB claims to have arrested two SBU agents in the Smolensk and Kaluga regions who were retrieving FPV drones and bomb components from caches to launch remote strikes on Moscow air defense elements.

Why it matters

Suggests Russian security services are actively hunting Ukrainian sabotage cells near Moscow, potentially disrupting long-range drone logistics chains. NATO intelligence should monitor for evidence of such caches or the effectiveness of Russian counter-sabotage operations in western Russia.

The FSB reported the arrest of two agents allegedly working for Ukraine’s SBU intelligence service. According to Russian claims, the agents were retrieving FPV drones and explosive components from hidden caches in the Smolensk and Kaluga regions. The alleged plot involved launching these drones remotely from Ukrainian territory to strike a key air defense element in the Moscow region. This highlights ongoing Russian concerns about sabotage networks and long-range drone logistics near the capital.
