BAE Systems TRV-150 octocopter intercepts kamikaze drones with laser-guided missiles

Bottom line

BAE Systems' TRV-150, a modified Malloy T-150 octocopter, successfully intercepted multiple kamikaze drones using laser-guided APKWS missiles without landing.

Why it matters

The TRV-150 demonstrates a viable air-launched kinetic counter-drone tactic using existing commercial platforms and precision-guided munitions, offering a potential model for NATO air defense integration against swarm attacks.

Ukrainian outlet ‘Istoria Zbroi’ reports that the BAE Systems TRV-150, a modified Malloy T-150 octocopter, has successfully intercepted multiple kamikaze drones. The interceptor used three laser-guided APKWS missiles to engage targets while remaining airborne, demonstrating a ‘drone-vs-drone’ interception capability. The report notes limitations including a limited payload capacity and a 36-minute flight time, suggesting it is a specialized counter-UAS asset rather than a mass-deployable solution.
