Russian MoD claims FPV interceptors destroy Ukrainian 'mothership' drones

Bottom line

Russian MoD claims FPV interceptors and PVO units destroyed significant numbers of Ukrainian drones, including 'mothership' variants, in recent operations.

Why it matters

High claimed interception rates suggest Russian PVO is integrating kinetic interceptors more aggressively, potentially degrading the effectiveness of Ukrainian deep-strike drone swarms.

Russian MoD reports via SolovievLive and Siloviki indicate that PVO units destroyed 55 Ukrainian UAVs in one day over Russian regions and the Black Sea, and intercepted 592 fixed-wing drones over 17 regions in a broader timeframe. Anna News adds that 6,011 long-range kamikaze drones were shot down in one week, alongside 8 ‘Flamingo’ cruise missiles. These claims extend previous reports of Russian FPV interceptors destroying Ukrainian ‘mothership’ drones, suggesting a scaling up of kinetic counter-UAV tactics against swarm and heavy UAV threats.
