Zelenskyy alleges China supplies Russia with indoor attack drones

Bottom line

President Zelenskyy alleges China is supplying Russia with 'trap' drones designed to enter buildings and attack personnel, with mass deliveries potentially starting in December following trials.

Why it matters

If confirmed, the introduction of indoor-attack drones by Chinese suppliers would represent a significant escalation in the types of autonomous systems available to Russian forces, complicating urban defense and requiring new counter-drone measures for NATO and Ukrainian forces.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has alleged that China is transferring new drone technology to Russia, specifically a drone capable of entering windows, hovering inside buildings, and attacking personnel when they enter. He stated that mass deliveries of these ’trap’ drones could begin in December following trials. This claim is corroborated by separate reports from Ukrainian sources indicating Chinese involvement in drone supply chains, though specific technical details of the ’trap’ drone remain unverified by independent OSINT.
