Why it matters

Demonstrates the operational integration of armed ground robots into Ukrainian special operations and assault tactics, moving beyond mere logistics or EOD roles to direct fire support and terrain traversal in contested zones.

Ukrainian intelligence (GUUR) reports that the ‘Iron Group’ has deployed armed NRK ground robots equipped with machine guns to traverse complex terrain, suppress Russian positions, and protect special forces during operations in spring 2026. These robots are also reported to disrupt Russian drone operations. Independent reports from the 3rd Assault Brigade confirm the use of ground robots alongside FPV drones to destroy Russian infantry and enemy NRK units in the Motopark direction, indicating active employment of both friendly and enemy robotic systems in close combat.
