Russian 'Bandero' drones strike Zhytomyr police HQ

Bottom line

Russian 'Bandero' missile drones struck the Main Directorate of Police in Zhytomyr, killing 2 officers and injuring 20 people, according to Ukrainian sources.

Why it matters

The use of 'Bandero' drones against specific law enforcement targets suggests a shift in Russian targeting priorities, potentially aiming to degrade local governance and emergency response capabilities in occupied or contested areas.

Ukrainian sources report that Russian ‘Bandero’ missile drones struck the Main Directorate of Police in Zhytomyr, resulting in 2 fatalities and 20 injuries. This attack is part of a broader pattern of Russian drone strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure and personnel, including a separate incident in Zhytomyr where significant casualties were reported following a mass attack by the same drone type. Ukrainian sources also noted that these strikes were preceded by missile launches from the Novorossiysk area, indicating a coordinated multi-domain assault.
