KBM, the Machine-Building Design Bureau in Kolomna, near Moscow, designed and leads the 9K720 Iskander-M system and its 9M723 short-range ballistic missile. According to Ukraine’s military intelligence (HUR War & Sanctions) and Kyiv Post, final assembly of the missile takes place at the Votkinsk Plant.
The cruise missiles fired from the same launcher family — the 9M727/9M728 Iskander-K and the 9M729 — are a different line, led by Novator, according to HUR.
